Because it is the hearth, and heartbeat, of every vacation.
It's the kitchen at our lakefront cabin that is the real showstopper. Because the cabin's builder had planned this house for his own summer retreat, he built the kitchen to a much higher standard. The kitchen is the home's hub, situated on the center of the mainfloor with clear views both to the front of the house - where you can overlook the main road and guests arriving while you work at the stove - as well as broad views out the back of the cabin and onto the the lake which is, of course, the whole reason for being there. The kitchen sits comfortably at the center of all things in this open floor plan, with counters along two walls as well as a center island -- lots of space for cooking and making yourself comfortable (as well as...leaving the dishes for later).
Appliances are new and quality. The oven is Viking, the dishwasher and fridge are GE, the sink is stainless steel. There is ample cupboard space as well as brand new pots, pans, plates, glassware, flatware, and cooking items (ie mixing bowls, roasting pans, cookie sheets, new wooden spoons and spatulas). The cabin also comes equipped with an electric kettle, two instant coffee makers (for regular and decaf drinkers), a KitchenAid mixer, a brand new toaster, a hand mixer, a blender, a food processer, and an immersion blender. This cabin is equipped not just for your regular lakefront vacation retreat, but truly special family feasting events at all seasons of the year.
I tend to leave some basic food items behind each time we travel out to visit the cabin -- flour, sugar, spices, some cereals in packets, condiments in the fridge. As you're getting ready to arrive at the cabin, be sure to check in with our property manager, who can let you know what's been left at the house and if you would like to have it made available for your use (otherwise I box things really tightly and keep them in storage through the summer). But my preference is that the food get used and your trip go as smoothly and easily as possible. Is there anything else you'd like waiting for you at the house when you arrive? Let us know and we may be able to make the arrangements.
