The Maine Lobster Festival
Lobster, Lobster, Lobster!
I don’t have a clue who first decided a lobster might be tasty. Who gazed upon those snapping claws, bulging alien eyeballs, and that blood red segmented armor, and thought, I HAVE to have a bite of that! Perhaps it was the ultimate case of Don’t judge a book by its cover, or maybe a dare between cavemen. Either way, I doubt I would have taken that leap, and that would have been a shame. I love Lobster.
The Maine Lobster Festival (July 29th – August 2nd) is a living tribute to those who looked past the clashing pincers and envisioned melted butter! It’s the ultimate gathering of Lobster fanatics and fun fanatics this side of anywhere. And it deserves a spot on every bucket list.
What makes The Maine Lobster Festival so special? I can think of about 20,000 reasons – one for each pound of succulent lobster prepared each year. And if history holds true, the local cats will have to search for their lobster leftovers somewhere else. Every morsel will surely find a loving home.
This is your chance to indulge in every conceivable lobster-based appetizer, entree, dessert, snack, and concoction known to humankind. It’s a unique event in an idyllic setting. Plus, the lobster crowd is a good-natured, festive, and family friendly bunch. You’ll meet people from around the country and globe, all happily surrendering to their passion for the best lobster anywhere.
Over the last 68 years, The Maine Lobster Festival has blossomed into a celebration of good people and of this amazing place that means so much to us, and of course Lobster! The summertime weather here in Maine is generally warm and pleasant and there’s tons of things to do at the festival and in the surrounding area. Dare I say it?… Even if you’re NOT a lobster fan, (be calm my heart) you’ll still have a great time at The Maine Lobster Festival.
While lobster is certainly the star of this event, there are tons of delicious alternatives as well. You’ll find everything from standard festival fare to rustic and regional gourmet treats to tickle your taste buds. Plus, there are all sorts of adult and kid beverages from craft beer and regional wines to fresh lemonades, smoothies, and soft drinks.
No matter how much you love to eat, you can’t do it ALL DAY (that is not a challenge). Not to worry. The Maine Lobster Festival has plenty of activities and events to enjoy between lobster courses.
